For over a year now, I’ve been faithfully watching (or, more accurately, completely addicted to) the videos of Gemma Stafford, an incredible recipe creator and online personality who shares tons of ideas and recipes through her YouTube shorts.
In one of those recipes, which went live years ago, Gemma showed us how to make homemade ice cream — no machine, with just 2 ingredients — and also presented 6 possible flavors that could be made with this base: mango, strawberry cheesecake, vanilla Oreo, honey challah, confetti candy, and rainbow.
Since then, this half-recipe, half-idea that Gemma shared has become one of the most viewed videos online, with many people adding all kinds of mix-ins to her base recipe and turning it into something especially delicious.
Watch: how to make 2-ingredient homemade ice cream without a machine:
And by the way, a month later, following the huge success of the first video, Gemma shared 6 more ice cream ideas using the same base.
So how do you make it? First of all, I recommend going to Gemma’s recipe — beyond the recipe itself, you’ll also find printable labels you can stick onto your ice cream containers. And aside from that, it’s a pleasure to browse her blog, even for non ice cream related content. Take her base idea and play with the additions. And don’t forget to tell me in the comments how it turned out!
